The "Flying Ritual"

I'm going on a much needed holiday and that means flying wich is something that I don't really like.

The best part about flying for me is reaching your destination safe and indulging in expensive magazines. I rationalize this indulgence by thinking that not only do I deserve this but I also need it to keep me entertained and calm during the flight. It's part of my "flying ritual". Well this holiday I'm taking three flights so I'm predicting a big expense in magazines alone...

These are my priorities but i'm open to suggestions:

Vogue Brazil
The magazine is celebrating its 40th anniversary and Gisele is on the cover also celebrating 20 years of amazingness in fashion.

Time Magazine's 100 most influential people, always a fun issue.

Hoping, hoping to still find the May issue of Marie Claire France

So It Goes Magazine Issue 5

Yes, we're dating!

I have a feeling in a matter of a week or two it will be ok to start wearing sandals, or maybe it will rain as if the world is ending but I'll be wearing sandals anyway, ok? It's May Mr. Weather, wake the f*** up!

In order to be prepared for this seasonal change, from heavy boots to light strappy sandals, we have to be aware that the first few weeks will be utter torture. Your feet have forgotten how the straps from sandals can carve into your skin and originate open wounds that will take all summer to heal and they also have forgotten how to walk in shoes that are weightless, so you will walk like a duck in the first few days. To be honest, these are the least of your problems because you will only be able to think about how white your feet got since you last saw them in daylight, last October, they now reflect the sunlight and feel like they don't belong to the rest of your body.

To overcome all these problems you have to encourage your feet to "date" as many summer shoes as possible. These are my dates right now, We've been seeing each other a few times but nothing too serious for now... I'm not ready for a commitment.

The "Festival Style" a.k.a The "Death of Individuality"

Well I've wanted to write something about this subject for some time but I've been putting it off because I know that most people won't necessarely understand or agree.

The truth is that I really don't appreciate all the madness around the "Festival Style". Around this time of the year you can't open any fashion outlet without being bombarded with "Festival Looks" galleries, editorials dedicated to the style or articles showing the best accessories and clothes for the music events. We've come to a point in time where the fashion houses make entire collections dedicated to these events, for example H&M has the "Coachella Official Collection and Topshop has the "Festival Collection". Well I'm not a fan of this.

You can argue that the same happens around other seasonal events that the majority of the population attends such has New Year's Eve, Christmas parties or even Summer parties. But what's different about these other ocasions is that the magazines or websites suggest different styles for different people, it's not mandatory that you wear a sequin dress in NYE or a velvet dress for a Christmas party. Those clichés are avoided at all costs by fashion outlets with one exception, the "Festival look", or should I say, the Boho-look.
I'm all in favor of a bohemian-look and I used to love peeking at paparazzi shots from celebrities attending festivals to see what they were wearing. These were the times where the Sienas and Kates would attend the shows wearing the coolest clothes, styled casualy with a pair of Hunter wellies. That's where it all begun but now we seem to be focusing more on the looks then on the shows. I get the sense that the music and the event lost all the attention and we now care more about the style of the people attending the event, that's not what fashion is about, you shouldn't get lost in your clothes.
We've lost all perspective and most of all we've lost a sense of identity, creativity and individuality.

Why is it that everybody has to put on a pair of cowboy ankle boots, high waisted jean short's, crochet crop-top's, flower garland's, round mirrored sunglasse's, fedora's and a lot of ethnic jewerly. Please don't do this unless you absolutly feel like this is a representation of your personal style, wear what you want, what resignates with the message that you want to pass on, what makes you most confortable and happy. If that is the typical Bohemian look then so be it, but if it isn't please BE YOU. Help make the "Festival looks" galleries less boring...

Let's end this "festival look" dictatorship. yep, the subject is that serious ahah...

No doubt about it.

Gucci is in the spotlight, no doubt about it, something that hasn't happened in some time, problably since the Tom Ford era. Style.com and Business of Fashion have some interesting articles about the italian fashion house that seem to imply that Gucci will be responsible for a shift in the fashion world like the "minimalist agenda" that  Phoebe Philo’s Céline implemented, has Nicole Phelps describes it for Style.com.

The brand is repositioning itself and a new down-to-earth Gucci woman will emerge, this is very clear when we scrutinize the new campaign, shot by Glen Luchford and styled by Joe McKenna The jornalist from BOF,Imran Amed, writes: "Moving on from Mert & Marcus, the long-time lensmen of
Gucci's glossy and sexualised ads of the past, Luchford has given the new Gucci campaign an almost vintage feel, reflecting a more real life scenario."

I'm looking forward to watching this new Gucci grow, no doubt about it.

GUCCI Pre-Fall 2015

Almost famous

Almost famous is a well known movie but to me is much more then that so when I saw this I had to share it. I always have to see the movie it if it's on and it never disappoints. I love it so much because two of the things that I love the most collide in an amazing way - Music and Fashion, to be more precise, 1970's rock'n roll/folky music and 1970's hippie/bohemian fashion. Do I really need to say anything else? I can only add that the gorgeous Kate Hudson's caracther is called Penny Lane, amazing again...

Ok, if you haven't seen it and all that I just wrote didn't really resignate with you then look at the pictures of the coolest wardrobe ever and let yourself be persuaded.
