Hysteria X H&M

There is a reason why you didn't see me talking about this BALMAIN X H&M craziness, I sensed that something like this would happen and the truth is that I'm over these collaborations.

Last year I experienced in first hand how unglamorous and truly pathetic this type of hysteria can be with the ALEXANDER X H&M collection. Let's get something clear, I LOVE BALMAIN and owning their iconic leather jacket is on my fashion bucket list for a long time, so I'm not complaining just because I didn't love this collaboration, I'm just having problems with these launches and the madness around them.

When these luxury brands work with H&M the consumer of fast fashion gets access to a world of glamour, status and exclusivity that is normaly out of their reach so it's understandable that the demand for these items is so massive. The problem arises when the frenzy around these collections gets so uncontrollable that all the glamour goes down the drain in the moment the doors open on launch day. People sleeping on the streets, running like zombies were after them, knocking hangers and pulling clothes, websites crashing and infuriated customers that couldn't get their hands on a single item from the exclusive collection, this is not cool - I repeat - NOT COOL.

If you go trough all of this to buy a dress and a t-shirt, or a pair of heels, where is the status associated with the french house of BALMAIN? I'll tell you, on the floor, just like your dignity. I, for once, value the whole experience of acquiring a special item, it stays with me and I remember it when I wear it. I don't want to remember how I knocked some girl to get the last Small size of that tailored blazer, or how I crawled on the floor to pick up that 400€ dress that fell out of the hanger with the frenzy.

When it comes to luxury it's not just about the design, the qualities of the clothes/accessories, it's about the experience you have from the moment you enter the store to the moment that you leave it with that beautiful bag that you regard as piece of estate.

I loved this collection, it was one of the best so far in terms of quality and design, although there was nothing new just just an adaptation of statements pieces from Rousteings BALMAIN, so you had good return for you money but there are somethings that we shouldn't do for fashion... unless it's Miu Miu then I'm all in.

H&M Studio FW15

This Studio collection is a breath of fresh air in the fast fashion world. Great design, complex materials and a matching price. These are not your 9.99€ pieces of clothes but I think they are worth it. I'm obsessed with this bomber jacket and the flared twill green pants seem to have potential.

One can only hope...

... the collection will have those AHh-MAZING leather jackets I love, at an amazing price, or de rope dresses. We'll see.

Spring 2015 // H&M

I have to admit that H&M is not on the top of my list of brands when I go shopping, the main reason is that most of the times I love the design of the clothes but hate the fabrics or hate the display of the clothes. They rely too much on bad polyesters and, on top of that, most of the times the clothes are not ironed  and that makes them look cheap. In the last two years I noticed that they are trying to reach other audiences by creating premium quality products, by continuing to develop the concept of a sustainable style and by trying to conquer a place in high fashion with their "Studio" line that is presented in NYFW, and with their successful collaborations with well known designers. This imense effort is having great results, the Hennes & Mauritz group is increasing their earnings every year, trying to rival with the giant Inditex but not yet succeding. While the battle continues, we can enjoy the special touch that the sweedish tend to have in their designs and this Spring collection is well representative of that.

Last night

Ontem à noite lá fui ver o aparato à volta da colaboração Wang X H&M, obrigada Stylista.

Um verdadeiro evento, como seria de esperar, convidados, imprensa, vodka absolut para estimular as compras e alguma histeria. Quem vive para estas colaborações, o que não é o meu caso, em parte deve gostar da adrenalina da compra de um bem altamente requisitado, a preços relativamente acessíveis, era palpável a excitação/tensão de algumas das compradoras. Não posso dizer que também não tenha sentido o mesmo mas, na verdade, a maioria das peças não se enquadrava no meu estilo e as poucas que se enquadravam estavam out of budget, a.k.a mochila do meu coração.

Para o comum mortal, é uma forma de nos aproximarmos da mestria dos designers convidados pela H&M. Para quem argumenta que os preços continuam a ser muito altos, que não deixa de ser roupa da H&M, a verdade é que nesta colecção os preços mais altos justificam-se, se tiverem oportunidade reparem nos acabamentos e nos materiais, são irrepreensíveis.

Fui uma sortuda, e passeei-me tranquilamente pelos charriots encontrei tudo o que procurava nos tamanhos que queria, ainda vi os acessórios antes da loucura começar, num piscar de olhos os XS e S desapareceram, bem como a postura de alguma das meninas que seguravam três e quatro caixas de sapatos e cinco cabides, todo um malabarismo impensável na minha cabeça.

Em suma, vale a pena?
Vale, se gostarmos das peças, se gostarmos do designer e se esse amor justificar alguns sacrifícios da nossa dignidade, como turnos de quinze minutos para comprarmos roupa, encontrões e até alguns boicotes feitos por fellow shoppers.

p.s - a roupa de homem era espectacular, não fossem os tamanhos gigantescos e seria uma aposta segura.

New in...

Irrita-me a H&M nunca ter as imagens de toda a colecção no site, além de nunca poder confiar que vou encontrar na loja o que vi no site também não posso guardar as imagens das peças que comprei, o que faço disciplinadamente para garantir que não me esqueço da roupa que tenho.
Queria partilhar aqui as calças cargo verde tropa que comprei na nova H&M do Chiado mas não posso, não existem no site português, americano e alemão.. enfim. Outra coisa que também me aflige imenso nem durmo é o facto de no catálogo da H&M a roupa parecer incrível e depois na loja quase nem se assemelhar ao que lá estava... desconfio que as peças utilizadas para a fotografia são outras peças, de outra marca, de outro tecido e de outro planeta, depois os suecos vão ali à China e encomendam umas parecidas de poliester e colocam nas lojas, tá feito.
De qualquer maneira, desta vez gostei muito destas calças e de um colar, fica aqui a imagem das calças da Balmain que devem ter sido a fonte de inspiração das minhas novas meninas.

H&M Home, great timing!

A H&M lembrou-se de mim e em Setembro abre a H&M -  Home na loja do chiado, mesmo a tempo da minha casa nova. A linha HOME tem artigos para todas as divisões da casa e os preços do costume ao contrário da querida Zara Home.  Eu fiquei com vontade de ir buscar almofadas com lantejoulas.

& Other Stories...

A "&Other Stories" é uma marca relativamente recente que descobri na viagem a Londres. Já existe há mais de um ano mas só foi detectada pelo meu radar agora. Esta "prima" da H&M quer agradar àqueles consumidores que gostam do produto minimalista e clássico h&m mas procuram mais qualidade. Este é mais um avanço do grupo H&M que não quer ficar parado a ver a Inditex conquistar o mundo.. Acho bem, força! Agradou-me imenso o estilo urbano e moderno desta marca, apesar de não me identificar com todas as peças. É uma bela alternativa a uma Zara, com um design diferente mas igualmente apelativo. Não sei se tão cedo vamos ter uma loja em Portugal porque a expansão tem sido vagarosa mas let´s keep our fingers crossed e entretanto temos sempre a loja online (está com saldoooooos).
