NYFW #Alexanderwang

Ten years have passed since the eternal kid started showing his work on the runways, season after season his brand grew and was consolidated, then he started to take other risks like being the head designer for the french powerhouse Balenciaga and designing a collection for a major high street brand, H&M for those hiding from the world.

Now he's taking another risk, the risk of not being able to deal with his dismissal from Balenciaga, I always felt that this venture wasn't meant to be, it felt unnatural, the Balenciaga brand and Alexander Wang were two opposites that didn't attract each other, the exception to the rule.

Well, let's not pitty Wang because as you can see from his SS16 collection, the kid is talented.
He can always surprise you and entice you to his state of mind, I immediately want to bring back all those clothes I had from the late 90's early 00's, from the patchwork leather and denim jacket, the white tees, the hip-hop references, the style mix-match with lace slip dresses paired with sneakers and bomber jackets.

It's all gonna be OK kid.

In honor of the New York Fashion Week I'll start with this question, if money and major connections with designers and brands were not an issue, what would you wear to attend the shows?

NYFW #Givenchy

So NYFW is well underway and I'm trying to catch up with every show. I had a very slow weekend so I was able to take a peek at pretty much every show so far, includding the video from the most anticipated Givenchy show, this time the french house crossed the atlantic to showcase another emotional collection straight from Tisci's dramatic heart.

It was truly a show, in charge of the concept was the highly regarded Marina Abramovic. I wasn't there, obviously, but those who were felt involved by the athmosphere created wich honored the tragedy that struck the city and the world fourteen years ago.

Intentions aside, the clothes weren't overstaged by the complexity of the show, they stood up on their own. Black and white ruled the runway as well as the 90's silhouettes. Shift dresses, strapped tops a romantic touch of lace and tailored pant suits. The higlight of the show were the amazing feathered gowns and face jewerly. Riccardo Tisci's work is reaching new hights and engraving his vision in our minds and hearts, a sincerely touching show.

NYFW# Jill Stuart

The New York designer proves that the trend of the summer (the 70's, for all you guys under a rock) can smoothly transition to winter clothes... The 70's will still be here when December arrives in the form of "A" line suede skirts, suede coats and turtlenecks. This is a collection that you easily live in all winter, at least I can.

NYFW# Kanye West x Adidas

Every fashion snob favorite target has got to be Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian and thats why we're going to hear Well Kanye just can´t keep the status quo and once again he's back in the limelight with his collaboration with Adidas presented last night at NYFW. You can clearly tell that this collection came from his mind, you can just imagine kanye wearing every pair of slouchy pants, every cargo jacket and sweater. I love his aesthetics for men but for women, try again because ultimately the tights body suit will not sell. The most interesting thing to me was the selection of models that presented the collection, you had ethnic and body type diversity wich brought the much needed dose of reality to a streetwear collection.

Rescaldo da NYFW... Já percebi que vou andar sempre com um atraso equivalente a uma fashion week (problemas de agenda), por isso hoje acaba a LFW e ainda estou na de New York. Tudo a seu tempo.

Por vezes na vida não queremos saber das estatísticas e das probabilidades, não queremos saber dos factos crus e nus e não queremos fazer uma análise objectiva e realista das situações, queremos sonhar, queremos imaginar um cenário melhor e queremos ter uma esperança louca tão forte que nos sustenta nos momentos em que esses factos crus e nus invadem o nosso campo de visão. Esta coleção da Delpozo faz-nos sonhar, se calhar não vamos adoptar nenhuma destas silhuetas, não vamos querer comprar um casaco amarelo com rosetas nem uma saia comprida em tule bordada, mas vamos sempre saber que elas existem por aí  vestidos em tule que mais parecem ter sido criados num mundo místico paralelo ao nosso, ou como diz a Style.com: "they were the stuff that dreams are made of.

 Para os que duvidavam que Jason Wu fosse capaz de se enquadrar na visão de uma marca europeia esta segunda coleção para a marca alemã põe fim a qualquer duvida. Sem perder aquela referência de silhueta forte masculina, típica da Boss Jason introduz a leveza das transparências e das cores pasteis para contrabalançar a rigidez das formas. As cinturas marcadas e as bainhas subidas são introduzidas para que não esqueçamos que a mulher Boss é feminina e aprecia os pormenores que realçam essa mesma feminilidade. Adoro esta coleção. A sensação que deixa é que é eterna, tão eterna como as obras arquitetónicas que inspiraram Wu dos arquitectos portugueses Manuel e Francisco Aires Mateus e do norueguês Sverre Fehn.

P.S - Estarei atenta, no próximo Verão, às gladiadoras que sobem pela perna. Eu sei, eu sei que não são sandálias fáceis e não favorecem ninguém mas são lindas e quero-as.

NYFW#6

Acho que podemos dar como encerrado o capítulo "cores de verão", ontem andei de botas, hoje estou com um look preto total, com casaco de cabedal e já volto para trás todos os dias para ir buscar o guarda-chuva...

Aparentemente este meu actual state of mind é congruente com o que se anda a passar ali para os lados de Nova Iorque. Primeiro pensei que fosse apenas o estado de espírito mais sombrio de um designer ou outro, agora vejo que no próximo Verão a paleta de cores não vai estar particularmente alegre. Muitas das coleções da NYFW são looks totais pretos, muitos jogos gráficos Black/White e muito cabedal ou faux leather. Realmente estas escolhas de materiais e de cores podem ser perfeitamente adequadas, se tivermos em conta o Verão deste ano, mas continuo a sentir alguma falta de cor. 

Anyway...

A dupla Proenza Schouler  apresentou uma coleção em tons outonais, verdes escuros, laranjas profundos, pretos, brancos, malhas, tecidos pesados e cabedal, muito cabedal. 

Adorei as saias e casacos em cabedal micro-perfurado. Nunca digas nunca Joana, sempre detestei coisas com esse efeito microperfurado, recentemente despachei uma mala prateada novinha microperfurada porque nunca a usava e agora era capaz de se tornar a minha mala de dia-a-dia. Esta situação e outras do género mostram-me que na moda temos que ser umas acumuladoras compulsivas, what goes around comes around....
