#Pre-fall 2016

Pre-fall 2016 is here and this "pre-season" is one of the most important for fashion houses, these collections are responsible for most of the sales and they stay in stores for a long time.

I haven't been a fan of previous Chanel presentations, too excessive, too much show-off and too little design. My theory is that the spectacle is meant to divert ou attention from the flimsy clothes.

This Métiers d’Art collection is presented in different locations every year and this time was no different, the collection was shown in the black and white streets of Paris built in Rome, strange? Yes, but the allusion to the city of light was mandatory given the circumstances.

Once again the show was set and the models walked the runway but this time there was a different mood, a darker, cooler Chanel girl. The models hair and make-up looked a little like 80's groupies and that was a perfect contrast for the 40's Austrian vibe felt in some of the lacy dresses and wool suits.

Do I love some of these looks? Yes. Will they be stuck in my head for a long, long time? No... but I feel a change in the air for Chanel.

Is there a "black-rehab" outhere?

Shirts, Knit vest, Boots, Jumpsuit from ZARA
Lipstick - "dark side" from M.A.C
Bronzer from CHANEL

The past couple of weeks my purchases have all been black dark grey. They should send me to the "black-rehab" but I'll problably end up going back to black, get it?

OMFG it's Chanel

I lost my freaking head and got this baby! I'm aware it's just a bronzer, I'm aware it's expensive, in fact I only bought it because I had a 20% off discount, I'm aware I can get the same effect with a thousand other products for 1/4 of the price, but.... In my defense, it's Chanel, it's so pretty, it smells so good, it's so pretty (again) and it has amazing reviews.

Let's talk about this product, the description on the website says that
"the velvety finish of this light cream-gel bronzer leaves your skin with a beautiful sun-kissed look. Wear it on its own to enhance your complexion, or for a hint of outdoors radiance, over or under your favorite CHANEL Foundation"
It's a multifunctional product that you can use all over your face as a bronzing base for your make-up or that you can use as a bronzing/contouring cream. The color is universal, it works with pretty much every skin tone because it's super blendable.

Since it's a cream you should apply it with a buffing brush or a sponge. I decided to get this angled buffer brush from H&M and once again it was a good bet, the brush is really good and it cost only 7.99€. I still feel that I should get a beauty blender to apply this product just because it's so cute and pink, oh well...

PFW in a nutshell... #2

Chanel

Well Chanel is Chanel. They know how to put up a show and how to make sure they end up on every social network website but almost every time the clothes are not the center of atention, at least not for me.
You end up focusing yout attention on the set, the theme of the show, the Kendalls and Caras walking the runway, the front row and the mystical figure that is Karl Lagerfeld. You could argue that Alexander McQueen did the same thing, he would put on a show that would almost overshadow the collection but the truth is that this was never the case. You would always end up talking about the styling of the models, the fabrics and the construction of the clothes. In my opinion the "formula" has to be rethinked, it's getting old...

Christian Dior

The french "power-house" is in full power. the fashion world is in awe of the thigh-high vinyl boots that made their first appearance in the couture collection. Raf Simons explored the animal print and dissected it until it became so abstract that I almost missed it. This "Simmons / Dior Era" breeds excitement and a sense of freshness that has atracted my attention.

Givenchy

This is a dark, romantic, melancholic collection, or at least thats how I feel abou it. The blacks, the heavy feeling that velvet brings to the table and the beautiful, exotic, amazing face adornments.

Isabel Marant

I could talk about the ethnic prints, the high high waisted pants, the chiffon dresses paired with black heavy leather belts and boots or I could just say that Isabel Marants never disappoints the fashionistas of this world and always makes us wonder if we should spend our entire wage in a pair of boots.

Kenzo

Kenzo giving street cred to all the fashion lovers out there. Their clothes really fit that urban lifestyle and they continue to bet on the sportsware trend mixed with oriental inpired prints and silhouettes.

Zadig&Voltaire

This is the brand you have to revere if you're a "rock chick" or a "Kate Moss wannabe". I have to admiti that Zadig&Voltaires aesthetic has a very special space in my heart and I'm really sweet for this collection.

A new world, a Chanel world

So turning 25 made me stop and think that maybe, just maybe I should stop spending all my money on clothes and shoes and then complain that my foundation (bought in the supermarket) is making my skin too dry. I decided that the time came to invest in good products, specially those in such close contact with the skin in my face. I started to think about my necessities, such has having a foundation that is "user friendly", and by this I mean a foundation that wouldn't feel heavy on my face (something I really hate), that would last most of the day without melting away and that would be right for my skin type wich is the typical combination skin, normal in most areas except the T-zone that gets shinny throughout the day.

After being aware of my needs I started to research the products that existed that had everything I needed and were in my price range. To choose a specific product I started to read a lot of beauty blogs and vlogs so that I could find out their reviews of their favorite products. This was extremely useful because I started to reach the conclusion that most of these true experts had the same opinion about the best foundations to a combination skin.

The Chanel Perfection Lumiére was one of the most praised in the reviews so I decided to try out this one. When I arrived at the store and after expressing all my concearns regarding the selection of a foundation the employee told me that the Chanel Lumiére Velvet would do the same job and it actually costs less.

After she applied it on my face I was in love with the natural powdery matte finish it gave (has promissed) without hiding the natural glow of the skin. It's not a full coverage foundation but that's not what I was looking for anyway. However I was still fixed on trying out the much talked about Chanel Perfection Lumiére wich I did the next day and found no difference at all between the two, the same finish, the same lightweight feeling on my skin and the same durability. I still have to apply a little bit of powder in the T-zone just to prevent any shine but besides that I'm trully happy with my choice.

For more reviews of both foundations check out these blogs/vlogs:

Pre-fall Chanel

Chamam a isto "aulas"?

Estou a gostar disto!

Talvez seja amor...

A infame Chanel 2.55.

Converse All Star - Missoni

Bana - Christian Louboutin

“I Heart NY” (Season 4)

Blusão de cabedal da Balmain
este ou qualquer outro da Balmain

Estes ratinhos do marc by Marc Jacobs
